A Sewing Arts Class
Baxter’s Threads Program is a sewing arts class that focuses on community. Led by Erica Millbrooks, this talented group of ladies focuses on the art of quilting, creating garments and more. Class members learn many techniques to refine and improve their sewing skills. But that’s not all… our Threads ladies have gone on many field trips, and not just to fabric stores. The class has traveled to Ferris State University to the Jim Crow Museum, All Around the African World Museum in Lansing, and to New Era, Michigan for a quilt retreat!
The Biannual Quilt Show is a community favorite that showcases African American quilts both current and historical. Over 60 quilts displayed at the show each year. See below for this year’s Quilt Show information.
