Ready to make a dream come true?

Baxter Community Center is constantly looking to improve and grow the ways in which we serve our local community. Below you’ll find descriptions of current projects which are waiting for funding and other types of support. If you are interested in making one of these dreams a reality, contact our Development Director, Juan Fernandez via email at juan@baxtercommunitycenter.org

CURRENT PROJECTS

Garden Restoration & Upgrade

Baxter’s outdoor garden is due for some TLC! New raised beds need to be built and several other minor upgrades need to be completed. This space is used frequently by our neighbors, volunteers and others, providing fresh produce to Baxter’s Marketplace (pantry, canning classes, etc).

Project Estimated Cost: $1,500

Volunteer Opportunities? Yes! A volunteer group would help build the new raised beds, install additional equipment and more.

Playground Expansion

Baxter’s nationally accredited Child Development Center serves children from birth to Preschool age, however our playground does not have the age appropriate spaces for those ages 0-2. A playground expansion would allow Baxter’s youngest to participate in age-appropriate outdoor activities that will further aid in the development of their young bodies and minds.

Project Estimated Cost: $25,000

Volunteer Opportunities? Yes! A volunteer group would help with installation of new equipment with direction from professional staff from our playground equipment supplier.

Marketplace Revamp

Our vision for Baxter’s Marketplace is to be a hub of activity and community resources, housing more than just our Food and Clothing Pantry, but also to be a platform for all of the resources available through Baxter. A re-vamp of the space would allow for better utilization of the current space and incorporate new opportunities to the design.

Project Estimated Cost: Unknown

Volunteer Opportunities? Yes! A volunteer group would help with this project from start to finish: envisioning and organizing the space, building displays and more.

Retaining Walls

Several of the walls around Baxter’s Garden and CDC Playground are over 70 years old and over time have weakened structurally (cracking, separating, leaning, etc). They will soon need to be repaired in order to be secure moving forward.

Project Estimated Cost: Unknown

Volunteer Opportunities? Yes! A volunteer group would help with this project from start to finish. A group with building/contracting expertise would be best. Another options is a donation to cover the repairs through a professional contractor.
