Child Development Center Assistant Director

Baxter Child Development Center is searching for an assistant director to assist in leading a high quality early care and education program and provide coaching to a team of employees.  The ideal candidate will have proven success in multitasking, leading teams, coaching, and child care center operations.  The candidate will also have knowledge and experience with licensing, NAEYC Accreditation, and Michigan’s Great Start to Quality Stars Rating System.  Early Head Start and GSRP experience is a plus.

Position Responsibilities

The program assistant director assists the director in the day to day operations of the program and provides coaching to classroom teachers.  The assistant director maintains compliance with multiple guiding agencies, coaches classroom staff, steps into classrooms as needed, maintains file compliance and enrollment.  The assistant director also provides leadership in the director’s absence.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field of study with minimum of 3 years of progressive employment experience in a licensed child development center; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Candidates should also have knowledge and understanding of the development needs of infants and toddlers, State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care, Child and Adult Food Care Program, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
